Lighthouse Against Threatening Skies

Yaquina Head Lighthouse is located outside Newport, Oregon along the central Oregon coast. It is an exact copy of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse along the central California coast.

On this particular afternoon Photographer Richard Munson was set up in front of a small grass covered knoll waiting for some interesting light as sunset approached. He took occasional pictures as the weather grew more ominous. The dark clouds you see in the picture slowly worked their way overhead and unleashed a torrent of rain (He ran like crazy).

This enticing image seems to evoke one of the primary purposes of a lighthouse; to protect and guide foolish photographers during hostile weather.
